Gladesville Shopping Village site redevelopment
On Thursday evening we saw the first glimpse of the direction in which the developer is looking to take the next design for the redevelopment of the Gladesville Shopping ‘Village’.
With a 25 storey tower above the (lowered) podium, the design which expects to create 300 – 360 flats (depending on mix) is certainly going to get a lot of attention.
The display-boards acknowledge that Council is seeking Heritage protection for the timber cottage at 10 Cowell Street, but the development builds over the entire site, so the applicant must expect to be able to buy the cottage from Hunters Hill Council without needing to leave it alone.
Get along to the session in the old Betta Electrical store (Thursday’s session was relocated from the former Video Ezy store), between 1pm and 4pm today if you can. The flyer is attached.
Participating constructively in this process is going to require all of us to respect the priorities and key interests of other groups and members of the broader community.
Fundraising
The team who’ve been contributing our time to help keep the community informed have given countless hours of our own time, and also paid all costs to date. Incorporation, website registration, software to help with submissions, printing of leaflets and other costs have all been borne by a small number of donors.
We’ve opened a bank account and would appreciate donations of any size to help cover future costs. All services will remain voluntary, nobody is paid, but there are outgoings and we’d really appreciate donations of any size to help meet the costs.

Meet the candidates for the NSW Election
Candidates for the Lane Cove electorate (which includes Gladesville) for the upcoming NSW state election have been invited to speak on planning and development issue, and to hear the views of the community. The event starts at 7pm on Thursday 5th March at St Andrews Uniting Church, 47A Kenneth Avenue, Lane Cove. The flyer is attached.
We understand that Labor, Greens, and Independent Candidates have accepted, but the organisers are yet to receive confirmation from the Liberal (Anthony Roberts).
